Brief Biography:

Shahrzad completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto, majoring in Human Biology and Zoology. She joined the Li lab in 2012 as an M.Sc. student and is planning to pursue a Ph.D. in the very same lab.

In her leisure time, she tries doing things she wants to do but she has never tried before. However, spending time with her loved ones and reading poetry are constants!

Happiness to me is: the realization that “Everything in the universe is within you [when] you start asking all from yourself and knock at the door of your own heart, instead of every other door.” -Rumi

Research Interests:

My research focuses on exploration of IbsC/SibC type 1 toxin-antitoxin pair for applications in novel gene targeting and therapeutics design.
