Brief Biography:

Zhifa has always loved science, and one of his life-long dreams is to become a top-tier scientist pursuing cutting-edge research in the exciting arena of biological sciences. His ultimate goal in research is to make significant contributions to biochemical research and his ambitious personal goal is to make a change in the world.

"My definition of happiness is...enjoying spending time with my family."

Research Interests:

My current research interests are in developing rapid, accurate, inexpensive and sensitive methods for Salmonella detection. My goal is to develop a novel catalytic DNA based technology to allow rapid detection of extremely low levels of live Salmonella cells, using in vitro selection, DNA amplification, and fluorescent reporting.

Awards:

  • Excellence scholarship from the "Faculté des études supérieures" (FES), Université de Montréal
  • McGill Integrated Cancer Research Training Program (MICRTP) Fellowship
