Brief Biography:
Simon completed his H. BSc. in molecular biology at McMaster University in 2003. During his undergraduate studies, he spent a year studying at Lancaster University located in Lancashire, U.K. Upon returning to Canada, he joined the Li Lab and started his graduate studies in September, 2003. In addition to pursuing his doctoral degree, he has also worked as a research scientist for a local biotechnology company, developing novel nucleic acid-based biosensors.
Apart from deoxyribozymes and guanine quadruplexes, Simon is also a huge fan of hockey, hiking, and Homer Simpson.
