Brief Biography:

Sepehr Manochehry is a direct-entry PhD student working on development of diagnostic devices for important biological targets, most prominently focusing on indicators of cancer. He has a passion for innovation and demonstrates devotion towards all of his endeavours, making him well suited for the Li Lab. He excels in leadership roles, enjoys community involvement, teaching, and entrepreneurship. His passion and skill when it comes to disseminating knowledge is evident in his eagerness to present at numerous poster competitions, conferences, and pitch competitions. He is a recipient of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Doctoral Award, which he earned after ranking 6th nationally, putting him in the top one percentile of more than 700 applicants across Canada.

He is currently focused on development of biosensing devices that will enable detection of urinary biomarker indicative of cancers of the bladder and prostate. One of his major goals is to develop point-of-care testing kits for these and other targets, to be used in hospitals around the globe.
